A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Tania Rutland  specialises in contemporary abstract landscapes of Sussex and the beautiful South Downs countryside. Her preferred mediums are oil on canvas, etching/print and pencil on paper.

Rutland's work is concerned with the push and pull between representation and abstraction, found in a particular type of landscape. The selective elements and the appropriation of these within the landscape, are what define Rutland's paintings in such a way. It is an abstracted view of nature. In a humanized countryside, a sense of looking at something close up and yet far away. Pattern and repetition has always held a major preoccupation for Rutland in her art.

Tania has exhibited extensively both her in the UK and internationally. She has also completed many commissions for both commercial projects and private collections.
