Affordable Art Fair, Battersea
We will be back at The Affordable Art Fair Battersea from 8th – 11th March with a handpicked edit from our amazing artists including works from Caroline Yates, Angela Edwards, Bruce McLean, Peter Blake, Amy Judd, Bobbie Russon, Jacob Crivello and Ralph Gelbert.
Jacob Crivello‘s works attempt to create emotion through re-imagined micro-landscapes where contemporary figures are dwarfed by landscapes of craggy moss-covered rocks, sandy cliff edges, watery gulleys, sparse vegetation and tiny alpine flowers. Couples in quiet dialogue, individuals sitting alone in contemplative, often melancholic poses, resonate with emotional force and feel curiously reminiscent of the well-known Victorian watercolourists and poets.
Ralph Gelbert paints in a way which doesn’t rely on known objects from our consciousness; he designs a new reality completely independent from the one we live in. This new-founded universe is dominated by colours, the games they play and contrasts they make, and is founded on geometrical structures of startling textures and surface designs that come together to build magnificent drama. His paintings are non-representational as Gelbert transforms his inner life into paintings.
A new artist to the gallery, Angela Edwards’ work melds traditional materials with new technology; oil on canvas or board and charcoal on paper are her chosen tools to depict a thoroughly modern subject matter drawn from digital media. Her central thesis is connected to a notion of ‘home’, a theme explored from many different perspectives and one she continually returns to.
Join us this spring to discover a carefully curated selection of diverse and inspiring works from us and over 100 other galleries. And don’t forget we offer the Own Art scheme allowing you to spread the cost of artwork at the fair over 10 months, with the benefit of an interest free loan.
