JOHN GREGSON F. R. S. A.

PROFILE

John Gregson was born in Lancashire in 1949. He studied at Manchester Metropolitan University between 1967 and 1972 and obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art. His career started in education, initially as a secondary school teacher, then as a lecturer and subsequently as Manager of Art and Design Education from 1972 to 1995. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1988.In August 1995 John left full time employment in education to concentrate on painting, acting as Director of Visual Arts for the Lewes Art Festival between 1995 and 1998. In 1998 he left England to live permanently in France as a full – time painter.
