RENATA BARCELOS

PROFILE

Renata Taggliari Barcelos was born in São Paulo on the 24th of October 1969. She is self-taught and started learning at the workshop of a renowned Paulista sculptor Pedro Pinkalsky with soap stones in August 1993. In July 1995, she had her first contact with marbles at Renato Brunell´s workshop. In the same year, she took part in the first salon of arts organized by the journal of arts of the Mokiti Okada´s foundation, and was second. She went to Pietrasanta in Italy in December 1995, and worked for six months only with hard stones ( marble and onyx ) in various workshops; like Laboratório Palla, Laboratório Silverio Paolli, and also in the workshop of  Belgian sculptor, Kobe Saelens.   

She had the  following  exhibitions:  October 1996, “Stones, colours and the beauty of the earth”, with jeweller Alexandre Costa at SESC in Pinheiros, São Paulo . November 1996, exhibition with designer and lithographer, Ivone Couto in a Japanese restaurant in Vila Madalena in São Paulo . August 1997, “Marble and onyx”  exhibition at the Head office of  Porto Seguro, an insurance company in São Paulo . September 1997, “Ita” exhibition at the Messianic Church in São Paulo . September 1997, received a third place prize at the Contemporary Brazilian art exhibition “Chapel Art Show” at the Chapel School in São Paulo . October 1997, took part in the collective art exhibition “The pathway of the stones”, Pedro Pinkalsky, Ivone Couto, Ivan Stancati and Attilio Fontana Neto at the Mokita Okada´s foundation in São Paulo. March 1998, she won a contest organized by the cultural ministry-FUNARTE with the “Tactile wave” project. October 1998, she had an exhibition “Tactile wave” at the Mario Schenberg art gallary of FUNARTE in São Paulo . In 1999, her work featured in Aguinaldo Silva´s soap opera “Suave Veneno”; run by Globo television in Rio de Janeiro .  

In the year 2000 her work also featured in Manuel Carlos´ soap opera “Laços de Família”, run by Globo television in Rio de Janeiro . In 2001, took part in the exhibition "2001: AN ART ODISSEY" at the Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco , California , USA . Her work featured also in Ana Maria Moretson´s soap opera "Estrela Guia", run by Globo television in Rio de Janeiro . In 2002, works featuring in Gloria Peres´ soap opera "O Clone" also by Globo television-Rio de Janeiro , Brasil.
