HICKS GALLERY INFORMATION PAGE |
Hicks Gallery has been trading in
Wimbledon since 1989 in both traditional and modern drawings, watercolours and
oil paintings. In recent times we have become particularly strong
in contemporary art with many of the best and brightest established and up and
coming British and Continental artists. We have always been very
approachable and are pleased to discuss requirements both during and
outside normal opening times. We are happy to let pictures out
on approval and would always recommend inspection of any item
"in the flesh" so to speak. It is extremely unwise to buy
without properly viewing a painting, and however good a photograph or website
image it cannot truly convey the artists message.
We are regular exhibitors of
the work of Jeffrey Pratt,
Valerie Smith ROI, Terry Whybrow, Andrea
Byrne, Jean Jones, Mark Harrison,
Jeremy Barlow ROI, Elaine Fine, Aldo Balding, Anthea Dutot,
Veda Hallowes, Tom Palin, Frances Francis RI, Judith
Warren, Kathy Ramsay Carr, John Gregson, Linda
Meaney, Bill Bate, Caroline Yates, Patrick
O'Donnell, June Frickleton, Sandra Blow RA, Claudio Missagia and Henrik
Simonsen
In 2005 we held a one man show for our best selling artist Jeffrey Pratt. Also worth noting is that one of Jeffrey's larger works was selected for the 2004 ING Barings prestigious Platform 100 exhibition, and Lucie Cookson winner of the first ever Public Eye competition at the Affordable Art Fair won an art prize at the recent Chichester Open Art Exhibition. Our last exhibition of 2006 saw an exciting newcomer to the gallery. Brazilian sculptor Renata Barcelos was showing for the first time in England. Absolutely stunning works in Spanish LImestone and marble.
We will also be showing the work of Lawrie Williamson R.B.S.A in the near future. We are pleased to announce that following her two year pause to study for her M.A at St. Martins, Andrea Byrne is now back painting full time. She will be showing new paintings in December after our latest exhibition. Please call the gallery for details of available works.
The Gallery is situated between Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon mainline station. Please note that there is plenty of parking near to the gallery, with meters only in force between 11am and 3pm Monday to Friday.
